Inspection of Hospitals, Ambulances and Medical Centres for 2010 Fifa World Cup

The Deputy Minister of health Dr Molefi Sefularo will conduct an official inspection of the KwaZulu-Natal health and medical health facilities earmarked for the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Sunday 28 February 2010, two days before the100 Days Countdown to the soccer tournament.

Dr Sefularo will be accompanied by Surgeon General of the South African Military Health Services Dr VJ Ramlakan; KZN Health MEC Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, as well as KZN MEC for Arts and Culture Ms Weziwe Thusi.

The visit will start at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital at 09h00, followed by an inspection of the newly renovated EMS Control Centre in Wentworth at 11am, then a stop at Addington Hospital ending with an inspection of the medical centre at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

As part of the inspection, the delegation will also confirm the allocation of 120 ambulances for the FIFA World Cup of which 70 have already been delivered, to benefit both the visitors and residents beyond the tournament.

This activity to check the province`s readiness for the World Cup also forms part of the many festivities planned across the country for the 100 Days Countdown on 02 March, to celebrate what the country has already achieved in preparation for the tournament.
