The Department of Health wishes to announce the closing date for comments on the draft-dispensing fee announced by the Minister of Health, Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang on March 09, 2006.
The closing date for public comment is 15 May 2006.
The public is encouraged to submit written comments on the proposed fee structure to assist the Department to arrive at appropriate fees that can be charged by pharmacists for dispensing medicines.
The Department is already engaging with various stakeholders in the industry to ascertain their inputs on the matter. The Department would like to encourage particularly consumers who stand to benefit from better access to affordable medicines to also make inputs into this process.
The aim of this process is to finalise a dispensing fee structure that makes medicines more affordable in the country while sustaining a viable retail pharmacy industry.
