Health Minister Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang will officially present the final draft of the Health Charter at the gathering of stakeholders from both the public and private health sector at Gallagher Estate in Midrand on Monday, 11 July 2005 at 10am.
The media is invited to attend the Minister's keynote address to kick-start discussions aimed at transforming the health sector to ensure equity, and improve quality and access to health care. The Charter will also set targets for employment equity and BEE in health.
The Minister established a task team of individuals with experience in the private and public health sectors to advise her on the contents of the draft. The Minister also invited submissions from all stakeholders, which were used in drafting the Charter.
"I'm pleased to announce that the Task Team has produced a draft, which I can present to the stakeholders for consideration and to elicit final input," Health Minister, says.
