PUBLICATION OF EXPLANATORY SUMMARIES OF THE PHARMACY AMENDMENT BILL, 1999 AND THE NATIONAL HEALTH LABORATORY SERVICE BILL, 1999.
The Minister of Health intends introducing the Pharmacy Amendment Bill, 1999 and the National Health Laboratory Service Bill, 1999 in the National Assembly in October 1999. The explanatory summaries of the Bills are hereby published in accordance with Rule 241{c) of the Rules of the National Assembly.
The Pharmacy Amendment Bill, 1999
The Pharmacy Amendment Bill, 1999 provides for the amendment of the Pharmacy Act, 1974 (Act No 53 of 1974) so as to provide for the performance of remunerated community pharmaceutical services by persons registering for the first time to practice as pharmacists and matters connected therewith.
National Health Laboratory Service Bill, 1999
The National Health Laboratory Service Bill provides for the establishment of the National Health Laboratory Service which shall be a juristic person whose main function shall be to provide laboratory and pathology services to the public health sector, the abolition of the South African Institute for Medical Research and the National Centre for Occupational Health and also to provide for matters connected therewith.
